Strange Dog Breeds: The Komodor

July 1, 2010

Lately I’ve been on this tremendous dog kick.  In the Fall I’ll be moving to Chicago to start a graduate program (and this blog will officially turn into a “tale of two cities” because Catherine will remain in New York) and I suppose I’ve had it in my head that I would really like to have a dog to keep me company.  Seeing as I’ve never owned a pet, getting one when I’m moving to a new city and starting a full time Master’s program is probably a terrible idea.  Nevertheless, I’ve kept myself busy all week researching various dog breeds.  My favorites so far: beagles and char peis.  I’d like to get a male dog, name him Telemachus (as in Odysseus’ son) and call him Telly for short.  In my travels, I’ve found a few crazy looking canines.  Behold the Komodor, by far the most absurd looking creature I’ve ever happened upon.
