It’s the 4th of Jew-lie.

July 2, 2010

As Catherine and I get ready to set off for our weekends in various northeast beach destinations (Catherine: the Hamptons, Me: Nantucket), it’s hard not to get into the Fourth of July spirit…the city is virtually empty, the office is virtually empty, and the thought of lobster and barbecuing is making my mouth water even more than usual.

Last night I went for a run down in the Financial District.  Running along the water circa 7pm is extraordinarily beautiful as the sun starts to set in the west and the glass and steel buildings along the New Jersey waterfront turn a stunning shade of orange.  The Financial District, for those who don’t have to walk to work through there on a daily basis, is really quite exquisite too with architecture and cobble stoned streets that are enough to whisk you away to another time period.  The New York Stock Exchange was all dressed up to celebrate our nation’s independence (photo above).

Have a WONDERFUL Fourth of July, readers.  Enjoy my second favorite holiday of the year (Thanksgiving is my first favorite).  We shall report back next week!
